A person-centred approach

At Elevating Mindsets Psychology, we value a deep and meaningful therapeutic relationship as the cornerstone of our work together. Although our work will be guided by powerful clinical interventions, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), we see a genuine, trusting relationship as the vessel to personal growth and transformation. What to expect in the initial appointment

The initial appointment is an opportunity for us to gather relevant information so we can formulate a treatment plan that meets your individual goals and needs. We really want to listen to your story and understand what you are seeking support with. We will often ask questions about your concerns, relevant background history, therapy goals, and expectations. We believe collaboration and transparency are core features of a safe therapeutic alliance. We are open with our formulations and treatment plans, encouraging feedback and shared decision-making.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • IFS is a compassionate, client-centered approach that explores and heals the various "parts" within you that may be causing inner conflict or distress. It can help you develop a deeper understanding of your emotions and reactions, leading to greater self-acceptance and personal growth.

  • IFS is great for those feeling stuck or conflicted, experiencing anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, or simply seeking a more profound connection with themselves and their inner world.

Eye Movement Desensitisation Therapy (EMDR)

  • EMDR is an innovative therapy that uses gentle, guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help you process and heal from traumatic experiences or painful memories, providing relief from emotional distress and empowering you to move forward.

  • EMDR is highly beneficial for individuals who are dealing with unresolved trauma. It was initially developed to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), however it can benefit anyone struggling with disturbing memories that continue to affect their daily life and overall well-being.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • ACT is a mindfulness-based approach that encourages you to be present with your uncomfortable thoughts and feelings (without judgment) while choosing to take action towards a meaningful life based on your values. It can help you break free from unhelpful patterns and build resilience for a more fulfilling and balanced life.

  • ACT is highly adaptable and can benefit many people including those experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or chronic pain, as well as anyone seeking greater self-awareness, personal growth, and improved psychological flexibility to navigate life's challenges.
